  • Sitting next to a pool
  • Going to the beach
  • Sailing or water skiing
  • Playing sports in the hot sun

Moisture Maintenance

It’s often next to impossible to keep all moisture from your hearing aids, so some routine maintenance is usually needed at the end of the day. In the evening, either dry and clean the hearing aids before placing them in the charger or open the battery compartment of replaceable battery aids and remove the batteries and brush out the interior to remove any debris that might have accumulated. Leave the battery compartment open, allowing the interior of the compartment to air out and dry overnight. If you live in a very humid climate or if you perspire heavily, consider investing in a hearing aid dehumidifier. The simplest type of these is a plastic jar that contains a desiccant that draws the moisture out of your hearing aids overnight. A plug-in desiccator appliance is a good investment in humid areas.
